Captain Russell

Captain Russell began his law enforcement career in June 2003. After attending BLET at Stanly Community College he was hired as a full time court bailiff with the Stanly County Sheriff’s Office. After only a few weeks as a Court Bailiff, he was offered a position with the Patrol Division as a road deputy. During his time on patrol, Captain Russell worked as a regular patrol deputy until a position opened in the Governor’s Highway Safety Program traffic enforcement division. Captain Russell was promoted to Corporal within the traffic unit and then eventually was promoted to Sergeant. After remaining in the traffic division for three years, Captain Russell was moved back to regular patrol as supervisor of a patrol squad. He remained a Patrol Sergeant until 2014 when he was promoted to patrol Lieutenant. Captain Russell served as patrol Lieutenant until October 2017 when he was promoted to Patrol Captain.
Captain Russell was awarded his Advanced Law Enforcement Certificate through the North Carolina Sheriffs’ Education and Training Standards Commission and is certified in Intox, Radar, DCI, and Field Training Officer.
