Rules and Regulations
The following are Rules and Regulations for citizens that need to carry out their business in the county courthouse. These Rules and Regulations are not design to harass or to stop you from using your courthouse. These Rules and Regulations are design to protect you and the employees within the courthouse, bear with us when you visit the Stanly County Courthouse.
Everyone must enter the courthouse through the front door that faces South 2nd Street in Albemarle. Once you enter you will encounter employees of the Stanly County Sheriff's Office who are responsible for the safety of all citizens and employees. Please do as they ask and your visit will be much simpler and faster.
Place all items in the plastic containers for inspection. All pocketbooks, briefcases and any other containers must go through the metal detector to be x-rayed.
Everyone will be asked to enter a walk through metal detector, all head gear must be removed to walk through the metal detector. Some people may have to be checked by a hand-held metal detector. Sometimes a full search will be required due to electronic equipment sensing something.
No one may enter the courthouse who is under the influence of alcohol or any drugs.
Anyone who exhibits a hostile, disruptive or disrespectful attitude to the rules and regulations will not be aloud to enter the courthouse.
Items or similiar items of these listed will be allowed inside the courthouse unless authorized: drinks, food, cameras, audio/video devices , scissors, files for metal cutting, mace, pepper sprays, can openers, box cutters or any item that can be used as a weapon. All Cell phones must be cut off before entering the courtroom. Improper use of a cell phone will make it subject to seizure by the judges order and the owner of the cell phone may be removed from the courthouse.
All citizens entering the courthouse are subject to a dress code which each judge will enforce on their own. Sheriff's Office employees at the front entrance will give citizens a verbal warning if they think that you might be in violation of the judges dress code.
NO SMOKING anywhere in the courthouse or in front of the courthouse.
Visitors to the courthouse may not stand in the hallways of the courtrooms or talk during court hours. You are subject to removal and/or arrested.
