Victim:  Samul Stancil,  Deputy Sheriff – Stanly County 

Summary:

At approximately 10:47pm on Monday, April 26, 2010 Stanly County Sheriff’s Deputy Samul Stancil was involved in a single vehicle accident while responding to an Officer Needs Assistance Call from the Village of Misenheimer Police Department. Deputy Stancil was traveling East on Palestine Road near Kemp Road just northeast of the Albemarle city limits.  At the time of the accident Deputy Stancil was operating emergency traffic utilizing blue lights and siren. Preliminary investigation indicates Deputy Stancil ran off the left side of the road in the area of Chuck’s Garage resulting in the vehicle rolling over several times.  The accident is being investigated by the State Highway Patrol. 

Deputy Stancil suffered multiple injuries to the face and head, a broken collar bone, and lacerations to his hands and arms.  Deputy Stancil was airlifted from Stanly Regional Hospital to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte for treatment. He currently remains Carolina Medical Center.

Charges:  2nd Degree Rape

Court Date: 5/17/2010

Bond Information: $20,000 Secured

Summary: Victim was friends / acquaintance with Suspect.

Incident occurred at victim's residence on April 2, 2010.

Suspect: Hilton, Jason Michael, W/M, DOB: 05/27/1979

                264 AR Morris Road, Denton, NC

Date of Arrest: 03/08/2010

Charges:  Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon

                Possession of a Weapon by Convicted Felon

Bond information: Secured bond $100,000.00

Court Date: 04/05/2010

Recovered Property: U.S. Currency

Summary: On 03/08/2010 the Stanly County Sheriff’s Office and the Misenheimer Police Department responded to a armed robbery at the First Bank in Richfield.  Employees of the bank advised that a white male suspect entered the bank, confronted the tellers, demanded money and brandished a knife.  After obtaining an undetermined amount of money the suspect fled from the bank, went across the street and left the area in a red pickup truck.  A witness to the incident was able to provide the license tag of the suspect’s vehicle.  A records check on the suspect vehicle found it to be registered to a resident of Denton, NC.  The Denton Police Department and Davidson County Sheriff’s Office were notified to attempt to locate the vehicle and approximately 45 minutes later deputies of the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office had located the vehicle and suspect in their jurisdiction.  The suspect was detained and investigators from Stanly County responded to take custody of the suspect, vehicle and property.

Sheriff Burris wishes to express our appreciation to the witness, Misenheimer Police Department, Stanly County 911, Davidson County Sheriff’s Office and Denton Police Department.  By the community and agencies working together, this case was resolved quickly.

Suspects: Mclain, Joshua Allen, W/M DOB: 06/24/1991

                  Mclain, Winter Nicole, W/F DOB: 12/10/1992

 Person(s) Arrested: Same as above

 Date of Arrest: 02/19/2010

 Charges:   Joshua McLain and Travis Bennett were charged with Felonious Breaking and Entering, and Larceny after Breaking and Entering.                                                                   Also with Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle.

Winter McLain was charged with Possession of Stolen Motor Vehicle.

 Court Date: 04/05/2010

 Bond Information: Travis Bennett and Joshua Mclain $10,000.00 secured each.

 Winter Mclain, $5000.00 secured.

 Recovered Property: Blue Honda Foreman ATV, Red 400EX Honda ATV and a White 350 Yamaha Raptor ATV.

 Amount of Property Recovered:  $16,000.00

 Summary: Mr. Charles D. Whitley, 11613 Deborah Street, Norwood and Mr. Charles M. Tucker, 34006 Mabry Road, Albemarle reported the theft of their four wheeled ATV’s to the Stanly County Sheriff’s Office.  During the course of investigation it was determined that Joshua Allen Mclain, Travis James Bennett and Winter Nicole Mclain committed the above offenses.  Information obtained by investigators led to the recovery of the three stolen ATV’s with a total value of $16,000.00.  Josh Mclain and Travis Bennett were arrested on 02/19/2010 and placed under a $10,000.00 secured bond.  Winter Nicole Mclain was arrested on 02/19/2010 and placed under a $5,000.00 secured bond.  All three are awaiting a court date on 04/05/2010.
